This is a blog about copywriting for web and marketing, with the occasional diversion into films, music, football, video games and anything else that pops into my mind.
I’m a copywriter at a Newcastle upon Tyne based marketing agency, with more than a decade of experience in the industry. My day to day copywriting ranges from marketing text messages to brochure copy and most things in between, and the clients I work for cover the commercial spectrum from international household names to micro businesses and sole traders. It’s varied, and I like it that way as I find it helps keeps my writing fresh and diverse.
I’ve been in web copy since 1999 – which is more or less as ‘ground floor’ as possible – and in that time I’ve seen the industry develop into what it is today, with things like website copy, email marketing, pay per click, banner advertising and e-newsletters becoming specialist copy areas in their own right. Things have moved quickly, and the most exciting thing about the industry is that it continues to do so.
In this blog I’ll be writing about what I’ve found out so far, what I like, what I don’t like and what I’m finding out about on a daily basis in this most fluid industry.
Thanks for reading.
